Day 1 - Wednesday, 8/21/2024 - Fly to Rapid City Today, fly to Rapid City, meet your Tour Manager and check into your hotel for a three night stay. |
Day 2 - Thursday, 8/22/2024 - Badlands National Park Today travel to the unusual and well-known Wall Drug Store, famous for its “Free Ice Water”. Then drive through Badlands National Park, located between the White and Cheyenne Rivers. The area contains spectacular examples of weathering, erosion, fantastic ridges, cliffs and canyons of variegated color. This evening visit the Fort Hays Dances with Wolves Movie Set to see some of the original buildings used in the Oscar winning film and enjoy a delicious supper with a bit of western entertainment at your Welcome Dinner & Cowboy Cookout. - Breakfast - Dinner |
Day 3 - Friday, 8/23/2024 - Mt. Rushmore / Crazy Horse Visit Mt. Rushmore, featuring awesome sculptures of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln. Each face is 60' high and carved with intricate perfection. Continue to Crazy Horse Memorial, still in progress, dedicated to the spirit of Chief Crazy Horse and the Lakota people. After dinner, experience Mt. Rushmore at Night. See this American treasure illuminated in a whole new light. - Breakfast - Dinner |
Day 4 - Saturday, 8/24/2024 - Deadwood / Devil's Tower Travel to Deadwood, made famous by Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, buried in Boot Hill. Stop to visit the “flying saucer,” haunted Devil’s Tower National Monument, a gigantic volcanic neck rising from the prairie and an area sacred to the Kiowa, Sioux, and Blackfeet Tribes. Later, arrive in the cattletown of Sheridan at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains and check into your hotel. - Breakfast |
Day 5 - Sunday, 8/25/2024 - Cody / To Yellowstone Travel to Cody, named after Buffalo Bill Cody. Visit the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, an interesting museum of Native American culture, natural history and western art. Later, enter Yellowstone National Park, the world’s first National Park established in 1872. Enjoy a two night stay in the West Yellowstone Park area. - Breakfast - Dinner |
Day 6 - Monday, 8/26/2024 - Yellowstone National Park Enjoy the day exploring Yellowstone National Park (average altitude 8,000'). With over 10,000 hot springs, thundering waterfalls, geysers, and endless forests, Yellowstone inspires awe. Park highlights include Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone Lake, and Yellowstone Canyon. It is also home to an astounding array of elk, bear, and buffalo. - Breakfast |
Day 7 - Tuesday, 8/27/2024 - Grand Tetons / Jackson Coach south through Grand Teton National Park, featuring spectacular scenery. Later, arrive in the quiet cowboy town of Jackson for your overnight stay. The city has developed into a place where the Old West and New are splendidly combined. Be sure to visit the colorful Million Dollar Cowboy Bar with its saddle-shaped barstools. - Breakfast |
Day 8 - Wednesday, 8/28/2024 - To Salt Lake City Travel south into Utah. Enroute wind along the shores of beautiful Bear Lake before climbing the Wasatch Mountains. In Salt Lake City, “The City of Saints” founded by Brigham Young in 1847, enjoy a City Tour featuring Temple Square with its lovely landscaping and famous Tabernacle, the State Capitol, and the University of Utah--site of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your fellow travelers. - Breakfast - Dinner |
