Day 1 - Tuesday, 11/29/2022 - Fly to Charleston Today depart on your flight bound for the South. Spend your first two nights in Charleston, SC, originally founded as Charles Towne in 1670. Steeped in history and quintessentially Southern, the city’s past is evident in its genteel charm. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner featuring southern cuisine & other choices. After dinner enjoy a Holiday Lights Drive through one of the popular districts decked out for the holiday season. - Dinner |
Day 2 - Wednesday, 11/30/2022 - Charleston Sightseeing This morning enjoy a Charleston city tour viewing historic homes and restored buildings that help give Charleston the reputation as the “charm spot” of the South. Stop at the interesting City Market, a 1790s historic market complex in downtown. Later board your Fort Sumter Boat Tour. The narrated experience features the harbor along with a guided tour of the Fort which is only accessible by boat. It was here on April 12,1861 that Confederate troops fired the first shots of the Civil War. - Breakfast |
Day 3 - Thursday, 12/1/2022 - Boone Hall / Beaufort This morning visit one of the most photographed plantations in America, Boone Hall Plantation, a 738-acre estate once the center of a cotton plantation and still a working farm. The half mile impressive entry is lined with oak trees and dotted with camellias and azaleas. Travel along South Carolina’s scenic coastal route to the charming town of Beaufort, which has retained much of its pre-Civil War character. Enjoy a Beaufort Horse Drawn Carriage Tour to learn about the local Civil War History and see Antebellum & Victorian Architecture. Then travel to the fascinating city of Savannah, America’s first planned city, whose entire restored center - more than 1,000 buildings - is a registered National Historic Landmark. Tonight enjoy a southern dining experience at the historic Pirates’ House Restaurant, welcoming seafarers and visitors since 1753. After dinner enjoy some of the wonderful holiday decorations and lights Savannah has to offer. - Breakfast - Dinner |
Day 4 - Friday, 12/2/2022 - Savannah Sightseeing This morning enjoy a Savannah city tour with a local guide. Learn about charming Savannah’s history, colonial settlement in Georgia, and General Sherman’s 1864 “March to the Sea”. Stroll along the cobblestone streets of Factors Walk and River Street, where old cotton warehouses have been converted into shops, art galleries and restaurants. Enjoy time at leisure this afternoon to explore more of the city, all set under a veil of Spanish moss. - Breakfast |
Day 5 - Saturday, 12/3/2022 - Jekyll Island Today travel to Jekyll Island & take a Trolley Tour to view the grand “cottages” that once belonged to such notables as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts and J.P. Morgan. Enjoy lunch at the famous Jekyll Island Club. Once owned by a group of American millionaires, this club was considered one of the most exclusive social clubs in America. Later travel south to the oldest city in the U.S., St. Augustine, first settled in 1565. - Breakfast - Lunch |
Day 6 - Sunday, 12/4/2022 - St. Augustine This morning enjoy a St. Augustine Trolley Tour featuring the Old Spanish Quarter, historic Bayfront, Old Town which dates to 1572 and the Plaza de la Constitucion with its shops and restaurants. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the brick-lined streets, and European flavor with centuries-old buildings & hidden courtyards. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your fellow travelers at a popular local restaurant. After dinner enjoy St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights, rated by National Geographic as one of best holiday lighting displays in the world. - Breakfast - Dinner |
Day 7 - Monday, 12/5/2022 - Fly Home Motor to Jacksonville and fly home with wonderful memories. - Breakfast |
