Day 1 - Thursday, 7/26/2018 - You may have been to Switzerland, but you may NOT have seen this Switzerland! Spend 6 nights in the quaint alpine village of Wengen (1,000 people at 4,800 feet), surrounded by 14,000 foot mountains like the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.
Fly to Zurich
Transfer by home pick-up to your airport. Depart today for Zurich, Switzerland. - In-Flight Meal
Day 2 - Friday, 7/27/2018 - Lauterbrunnen / Wengen
Arrive in Zurich, board our coach and travel through the Swiss landscape past sparkling lakes. Stop in the capital city, Bern, to see the Rose Gardens & Glockenspiel. Then, it's up into the massive Swiss Alps. The scenery is increasingly spectacular as you arrive in Lauterbrunnen, with its towering cliffs. Then, travel by cog-rail up to the enchanting alpine village of Wengen for 6 nights (altitude 4,800'). - Dinner
Day 3 - Saturday, 7/28/2018 - Interlaken / Lake Cruise
Enjoy a day trip to Interlaken to shop for woolens, lace, and watches. Ride the vintage cog railway up to Schynige Platte for an incredible view (altitude 6,800'). Later, cruise across Lake Brienz to visit the Wood Carving School. Later, board Swiss Rail back to Lauterbrunnen, then cog rail up to Wengen. - Breakfast - Dinner
Day 4 - Sunday, 7/29/2018 - Jungfrau / Grindelwald
Free morning or optional rail up to the Jungfraujoch Mountain at 11,133 feet (optional at approx $85 pp due to high altitude). This afternoon, we will all go via cog railway to Grindelwald for shopping. Continue on to “First Summit” via Europe's longest cable car (altitude 7,600'). Then, return to Wengen via the Männlichenbahn cable car. - Breakfast - Dinner
Day 5 - Monday, 7/30/2018 - Schwarzwald / Reichenbach
Ride the Cable Car & gondola over to Grindelwald to board a PTT bus for an excursion over the Grosse Scheidegg to Schwarzwaldalp. Stop at the upper Reichenbach Falls (of Sherlock Holmes & Professor Moriarty fame). Walk down thru the falls or ride the bus to Merrigan. Then, ride the Swiss Rail along Lake Brienz and back to Wengen. - Breakfast - Dinner
Day 6 - Tuesday, 7/31/2018 - Lauterbrunnen Valley
Board the cograil for an excursion to the glacier-carved Lauterbrunnen Valley. Board a PTT bus to Trummelbach Falls. Go inside the mountain and see how the falls have carved incredible caves. Next, take the cable car to Gimmelwald, then to Murren for free time. Ride the funicular up to Allmendhubel (altitude 6,200') for the view, or take the $50 pp optional Schilthorn cable car up to Piz Gloria (altitude 9,700’), setting for the 1969 James Bond movie. - Breakfast - Dinner
Day 7 - Wednesday, 8/1/2018 - Free Time / Matterhorn Optional
Today, the July tour will include special Swiss Confederation Day holiday activities in town. Enjoy free time, or join the optional day trip to the Matterhorn. Travel to the ski resort of Zermatt. Choose to ride to the ice world of Klein Matterhorn (altitude 12,780’). From there, up to the “Gipfel-lift” (subject to weather) is an exceptional 360º view. Explore the glacier grotto, “Gletschergrotto.” Then, stroll & shop in town, or visit the Matterhorn Museum. Return after a long but very rewarding day. Day 8 - Thursday, 8/2/2018 - Coach to Zurich
Descend on the now familiar cog-rail train. Board your private motorcoach and motor to Lucerne. See the Lion’s Monument and Chapel Bridge. Continue to Zurich for the night and your Farewell Dinner. - Breakfast - Dinner
Day 9 - Friday, 8/3/2018 - Zurich / Fly Home
Coach to the Zurich airport and fly home.
