Pre-extension to Lisbon
2027: On Oct 29/Nov 5 Overnight flight to Lisbon. On Oct 30/Nov 6 you arrive in Lisbon and transfer to your hotel for a free evening. On Oct 31/Nov 7, enjoy a Lisbon City Tour with the Moorish Alfama Quarter, Monument to the Discoveries, Belem Tower, and Jeronimo’s Monastery. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Arrive / Board Ship
Those not on the pre-extension will arrive in Porto and transfer to the MS Riviera Rose for 7 nights on the Douro River. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner onboard tonight.
Pre-Extension to Lisbon
2027: On Nov 1/Nov 8, Enjoy the scenery enroute to the seaside village of Nazaré. Then visit Fátima, a significant Christian pilgrimage site. Continue north to Porto and board your ship for 7 nights.

Porto / Régua
Porto is on both sides of the Douro River, and its history and development are closely linked to the river. Enjoy a panoramic Porto City Tour. Appreciate the stunning architecture, bell towers, baroque churches, and intricate tiles that are typical of traditional Portugal. Then, cruise through the landscapes of the Douro Valley to dock in the charming town of Peso da Régua. Visit the 126-acre Quinta da Pacheca, known as the first quinta to bottle wine under the name of its owner, the aristocrat Mariana Pacheco Pereira. Enjoy dinner accompanied by a selection of their wines. You will have an opportunity to wander through the 18th c. estate.

Castelo Rodrigo
Enjoy cruising in the morning. This afternoon, visit the historic 12th c. walled village of Castelo Rodrigo, tucked away in the picturesque highland ranges bordering Spain. The village is home to a well-preserved Gothic castle, a rare example of Leonese-style architecture. From Castelo Rodrigo, enjoy unobstructed views of the Spanish border and beyond.

Salamanca
Motorcoach into Spain to visit Salamanca, a city of dazzling beauty with extraordinary architectural treasures and rich tradition. The Salamanca Walking Tour includes the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the University, founded in 1218, and visit Salamanca’s two cathedrals. Lunch is included with a traditional Flamenco Show & leisure time in Salamanca.

Quinta da Avessada / Pinhão
Enjoy the scenery as you cruise to Pinhão. Enroute, visit and enjoy lunch with wine at Quinta da Avessada, an estate renowned for its amazing moscatel wines. This evening, arrive in the picturesque town of Pinhão, which sits on a bend of the Douro.

Lamego / Mateus Palace
Enjoy a Lamego Tour, a small, picturesque, old town rich in history and charm. Its 18th c. Cathedral Sanctuary is an important place of pilgrimage.  The large cathedral overlooks the town from the hilltop & features an impressive staircase with 686 steps beautifully decorated with blue & white tile. Later explore the landscaped gardens of Mateus Palace. Wine aficionados will recognize the palace from the label of Mateus Rosé, whose logo depicts the impressive facade.

Choose Guimarães or a Port Cellar Wine Tasting
Today choose an afternoon Port Cellar Wine Tasting in Porto or join the Guimarães Tour, known for its foundational role in Portuguese history.  In Guimarães, visit the Paço dos Duques de Bragança. Once the home of the first Duke of Braganza, the palace has been beautifully restored. Lunch is not included if you choose Guimarães. Your Farewell Gala Chef’s Dinner & Folklore Music Show is tonight.

Return Home
Transfer to the airport and return home.
Note: Excursions require moderate walking with some stair climbing possible.

The Ship - MS Riviera Rose
Cruise the Douro River on the beauti fully craft ed MS Riviera Rose, a luxurious boutique hotel and the perfect place to unwind between onshore adventures. The fitness center & spa are located on the Emerald Deck (Lower).  The ship has a small elevator that travels between the Upper, Middle & Lower Decks. The beauty of river cruising is that the most interesting destinations come to you.

All Meals & Superior Drinks Package* Included Onboard
The Main Restaurant is open for breakfast buffet, lunch and a la carte dinner. The Rio Restaurant is a speciality restaurant for lunch & dinner and allows for more informal and inti mate dining experience. The Rio Restaurant is located at the rear of the Diamond Deck and features seating for around 26-30 guests. *The Superior Drinks Package includes four Wines, Beer, Soft Drinks, Mineral Water, Coffee and Tea during lunch. From 6 pm to midnight, the above Drinks are included plus House Spirits, cocktail of the day, Port/Brandy & a special recommended wine with dinner.

Comfortable & Modern Staterooms
After boarding, unpack only once. All staterooms offer river views and are bright & modern, and give you a little space of your own with the amenities and pleasant touches of a hotel.  Staterooms are on three Decks  - Upper, Middle & Lower.  Staterooms feature TV, phone, private bathroom with shower, Nespresso machine, safe, mini-fridge, climate control, European Type C plugs & Wi-Fi.
 
Staterooms - 172 sq ft
Staterooms feature 2 twin beds that can be separated or put together, TV, private bath with shower, hair dryer, closet, phone, desk, chair, safe, climate control & Nespresso machine. Category A, B & C feature French-style Balconies on the Upper & Middle Decks with 172 square feet.  Categories D & E have a small fixed window & are on the Lower Deck with 172 square feet. Staterooms have European Type C plug sockets so bring the relevant 2-round pin adapter.

Suites - 258 sq ft
Four Suites on the Upper Deck feature a Private Balcony with seating.  There’s a living space, with a sofa, chair and table as well as a desk and double wardrobe. The suite also includes climate control, hairdryer, safe, TV, phone & Nespresso machine. The hotel-style bed can be configured as a double or twin, and the suite also features an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower. Staterooms have European Type C plug sockets so bring the relevant 2-round pin adapter.
