Experience the thermal waters before enjoying a city tour of Reykjavik, weaving through narrow alleys framed with old timber houses. See Hallgrimskirkja Church and Höfði house, site of the 1986 Reagan/Gorbachev summit. See the city’s attractions, public sculptures, the city pond, harbor, and views of Reykjavik, the  fjord, and mountains. Then, the geothermal outdoor pool in Laugardalur. Pass the sculpture museum and garden of Ásmundur Sveinsson before heading to your hotel for 4 nights.
Day 3
Monday, 2/5/2018 - Sightseeing / Northern Lights
Via a scenic route arrive at Þingvellir (Thingvellir), a National Park and UNESCO Site of the world’s oldest parliament. Seated on a vast plain flanked by large fissures, on Iceland’s largest lake, the continental rift is clearly visible. Drive on to mighty Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall), a double cascade. Explore the valley featuring geysers Geysir and Strokkur. Drive to Skálholt, for centuries Iceland’s cultural center. Pass the greenhouses of Hveragerði and over the mountain pass Hellisheiði, with its lava fields and steaming valleys. See geothermal power station Hellisheiðarvirkjun, and learn how Icelanders gather energy. Tonight, a Northern Lights tour. Travel outside Reykjavík and on a clear night with luck, see the Aurora Borealis swirl in dramatic shapes across the sky! (Tour subject to weather conditions. We reserve the right to reschedule if circumstances are not favorable. Sightings of the Northern Lights cannot be guaranteed.)
